GUIDE LINE TO SUBMISSIONS POLICY
In the ever changing world of music, and with the threat of artificially generated music squeezing out artistry, we felt it necessary to communicate the following:
Sweet Boosts is and shall forever be a judgment free platform for artists to share their crafts in a loving and supportive environment.
It was conceived to help indie musicians, particularity, grow and find relevance in a saturated and tilted industry.
Little did we know just how the landscape would change.
Today, in addition to competing with the big budgets of BIG MUSIC, we are now being slowly squeezed out by Generative Artificial Intelligence.
For many of us, a single song may take months or longer to produce. We know of many that have taken in excess of a year. It is undoubtedly a labor of love for most of us and at some point we push ourselves to “let it go” despite it never really being “ready”.
Today, we are seeing projects turn up with full catalogs of well produced and mastered songs. Some of these projects have gone well beyond the music and crafted bands with back stories and developed personas for fictitious “members”.
To many’s surprise, some of these songs and projects are rising to national/world recognition, gaining millions of streams or have abundant airplay all without crediting or compensating the very artists upon whose intellectual property the songs were built.
Admittedly, there is so much more to learn and understand when it comes to any of this. We have carefully avoided the topic until we felt confident enough to present a position.
The issue at hand has nothing to do with the creative spirit that resides in all of us. Like we stated, this is a judgement free community.
However, moving forward, we will welcome only music that is substantially written and recorded by the artist(s) representing the song, without reliance on generative artificial intelligence.
This is not an indictment on anyone employing such tools but rather is intended to be in support of the millions of musicians who are dedicated to the craft.
